So, I see two options: - Read an entire book and then discuss it.
- Read a book in chunks and then discuss each chunk while we read the next one.
I, personally, lean toward #2. What do you all think? Do you have any other ideas?

I'd rather do a book in chunks myself.

A book in chunks definitely would be easier for people with limited time like myself. I'm fairly certain that otherwise I'd never get anything read in time, unfortunately. >.>

I also vote for books in chunks! I've found that I remember more with reading a certain amount per day, especially if the material is especially dense/academic.

Books in chunks makes sense to me, as well. It'd give me time to get through it without stressing that I have to have the whole thing read at once.

Books in chunks--Having time to read, digest, and then continue on as a group would be better, I think, especially since we're all doing the discussion online and in different time zones.

Echoing the call for books in chunks, since it makes it easier to have focused discussions on specifics rather than just "well, this is what I did/didn't like about the book as a whole".

I'd say that's pretty much consensus. If anyone strenuously objects, feel free to chime in as it might change minds, but for now, we'll read the books in chunks and go from there.

Hi! Not sure where to post this question, but I was wondering if the Book Club was still choosing a book to start. Just wanted to know (and plan my book shopping accordingly). Thanks again for putting this together David!

Has anyone heard from David recently? We all get busy especially those of us that get caught up in the holiday season, but I'm starting to wonder if he's just busy or if something more urgent has come up since there hasn't been any movement on the book club going forward. If that continues to be the case, is there still enough interest to possibly get a new poll going on what book to start with, does anyone have access to what the last list of official suggestions ended up being?

I know that Real Life (tm) had taken over his time recently. I'd like to suggest that an interested party volunteer to run the club for now, that everyone post their book suggestions, and that you can use this space for all the discussion. After all, a club with multiple owners is more sustainable.

I know how real life can eat up one's time, I'd be willing to be a part of an organization team if that's how everyone wants to take this.
As for book suggestions, I'm going to throw in a vote for Talking to the Spirits by Filan (thank you Lyradora for the suggestion) as our first book. I'll be honest, I have totally self serving reasons for suggesting that book...namely I already have a copy...but I think it'd be a good first considering the subject matter.
So, who still wants to do this thing?

Raises hands, and I too own the book as well.

I've just started reading that book, so it would suit me perfectly!

Is this the book you're talking about? Asking before I buy the wrong book. I don't mind starting there if that's what others want. I can get that as a kindle book, which makes things easier for me. It looks interesting.
